Team Tennis State Championships at Schnectady NY

Our Trip started on Friday 5/14/04 from Roy Wilkins park. the drive took approximately 4 hours, mapquest quoted 3 :( hummm, maybe the 45 minute rest stop had something to do with it. Check in was fun, and the kids were wired. I know all the parents were tired and ready to sleep.

I chaperoned Matt and Jelahni, with my previous roommate experience they weren't so bad :) Actually, very good young men. Here they are playing some cards and watching TV.

The morning Continental breakfast was actually very good. They had a self serve (do-it-yourself) Waffle maker. Quite delish! I made several. Above Mari, Melanie and Lil' Harry munching up. Tavia is in the background with Monica May making their waffles.

Five rounds of team tennis type match play. We are scheduled for a long day!

This is our mobile camp unit.

Camp cheer all. For some reason our camp had the loudest cheering squad, could it be that we were from NYC?

Ready for post match interviews?

Its not how you play the game, but how good you look playing it.

I'm surrounded by a great support team.

Ms Candace after her match, she's a champion. You should have seen her volleys!

Game face! One sleeve up, game gear?

Next victim for Jelahni.

Another one "Its how good you look" person.

Lil' Harry found or made his own fun.

Action at the net, with Candace ready for anything.

Then came the rains

With the courts steaming from the cooling rains, the sun came out shortly and began drying the courts.

But the rains came back again, and the tournament was moved indoor at a further location to possibly end the next day. The time was in the middle of the day, and we decided to just come home. We are winners in all respects. The children all played their hearts off, and left it all out there on the courts.

Matt, Jelahni, and Melanie

Lil' Harry had a full day as well.

A long but fun ride home in Coach's car.

Time to think about our weekend trip, and plan for next years team.

I'd like to thank all the parents. Without their unwavering support and teamwork, set a great example to all the children. This trip was a huge success. Thanks

Always,

Harry :)
